Norwegian envoy visits Badi community

TIKAPUR: Norwegian ambassador to Nepal Thor Gislesen visited the Badi settlement in Kailali district today. Gislesen had reached the area to get field information of programmes run by Save the Children Nepal through the assistance of Norwegian government.

The envoy visited the Badi settlements in Narayanpur and Dhanasinghpur VDCs and took information about the Badis residing in the areas. He also met the Badi children living in a hostel located at Narayanpur-8 of the district. The hostel is being run by the organisation called Community Aid Committee.

Informing that his country has been spending huge amount for the development of the children of the marginalised community Thor said,'' The children should make maximum out of the assistance.''

Meanwhile, Umadevi Badi, coordinator National Badi Rights Protection Committee informed about their past movements and agreements reached with the government. Envoy Thor was accompanied by representatives from Norwegian Embassy, Save the Children Nepal and others
