TAPLEJUNG:A chopper bringing relief materials to earthquake victims in the far-flung VDCs of the district returned from Dhunsha today due to poor visibility.
A team from the Home Ministry had flown to provide relief to quake victims in Olanchungola and its adjoining areas.
CDO Bedraj Dhakal said the chopper returned from half-way due to bad weather. The chopper had headed to quake affected Dhunsha area with cash, tents, blankets and other materials for victims.
Some Dhunsha locals accused the team of providing relief only to those whose houses were completely destroyed.
Quake victims in Olanchungola were saddened when the team returned without landing there. Tashi Sherpa, a victim, said, “We spent days expecting relief, only to have our hopes dashed as the relief team returned.
CDO Dhakal said the team left the relief materials meant for Olanchungola victims at Lelep, as the chopper could not land there. Olanchungola victims said they could not get the relief left at Lelep as the bridge and the trail joining Lelep and Olanchungola had been destroyed in the quake.
