No need to panic over small group's walk out: Mahara

POKHARA: Standing committee member of the UCPN-Maoist, Krishna Bahadur Mahara, has said the party cadres should not panic over the walkout of a small group of Mohan Baidya from the party.
Inaugurating the third central gathering of the national employees' organisation of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) here on Friday, leader Mahara, however, said splitting party at the time consensus and unity were needed within party was a serious deception. It would be evaluated by the people, he added.
Similarly, leader Mahara said the UCPN-Maoist was ready to wage any sort of struggle for the sake of identity-ensured constitution.
He pointed out the need to forge political consensus. The Maoist party was ready to form the government of national consensus only after ensuring the constitution with the guarantee of ethnicity-based federalism.
On the occasion, NEA General Manager Upendra Dev Bhatta said if some amount spent on purchasing petroleum products was invested in electricity generation, energy crisis would reduce to some extent.

Ethnicity-based federalism. What, exactly, does this mean? Why are the people of Nepal allowing their power to be split and squabble among themselves for scraps from the table in the form of individual rights? Would that the downtrodden ethnicities of Nepal work together for a federalist constitution that guarantees the same rights to all this battle would already be won. It appears that the current Maoist government has completely fallen into a trap set by the NC and cpn-UML. They need to be replaced by Mohan Bhaidya's faction and elect a new CA, majority of which realize the trap set for them and do not lose their soul in it. parbati lama, Boston, USA

Intention of having federal state is to divide country into smaller units for speedy developement of the country as a whole.Kathmandu centered politics/administration has neglected many areas in the country.Federalism will facilitate all round developement of the country.Fair distribution of the state resources and participation in the developement process by local leaders. gau, xxx
