GAIGHAT: Speakers have emphasised on drafting of a new constitution that guarantees press freedom along with professional rights of the journalists.
At a programme organised here on Friday by the Nepal Press Union (NPU), Central Member of NPU, Mohammad Iqbal said NPU has been long engaged in the press freedom movement.
FNJ Udayapur President Maheswor Chamling Rai opined that journalists should not be the shadows of politics, but should work for professional rights.
Nepali Congress Udayapur President Himal Karki said his party had for long fought for press freedom and democracy.
Central Member of Press Chautari Kushal Babu Basnet, District President Bharat Khadka, and Nationalities Journalists Association District President Bhotraj Rai also expressed their views.
