KATHMANDU: The Sixth National Coffee Day was marked on Wednesday in the country by organizing different programmes. The theme of the national coffee day is 'Promote Organic Coffee, Increase Self-employment Conserving Ecology.'
At a programme organized on the occasion by the Tea and Coffee Development Board, Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives Mrigendra Kumar Singh Yadav stressed increasing the investment by giving special priority to the agricultural sector.
He, however, admitted that the development of the agricultural sector was not picking speed due to the lack of sufficient investments.
Yadav said the government should stress on the need for developing the hybrid seeds, giving technical support necessary to increase the production of the agricultural sector as the country's economy could not be developed sans strong agricultural growth.
He suggested that the coffee farmers should cooperate with the Board for the growth and development of coffee farming.
Executive Director of the Board Binaya Kumar Mishra said that the government bodies should pay special attention for the development of coffee farming.
Chairman of Federation of the Nepal Coffee Entrepreneurs Shyam Prasad Bhandari said exchange of experience and learning was necessary between the government bodies and farmers on time to time for commercial development of coffee farming.
