KATHMANDU: Dr. Jagadish Chandra Pokharel, Vice Chairman of the National Planning Commission and a member of the Nepalese Delegation to the 65th Session of the United Nations General Assembly delivered a statement in the High-level Event on Biodiversity.
While highlighting Nepal’s success story on community-based approach to forest management and management of protected areas as one of the effective and sustainable tools of nature management, Dr. Pokharel underscored that Nepal is one of the biodiversity rich countries in the world with its unique topographical, altitudinal, climatic and cultural variations and their interactions.
He emphasized on the need for an increased, predictable and timely financial support through a more direct mechanism for Least Developed Countries and countries with vulnerabilities and poor economic base.
