Pandey on work ethics
DHULIKHEL: Finance Minister Surendra Pandey on Friday said revenue losses could be minimised if businessmen and civil servants worked sincerely. Speaking at an interaction at Tatopani Customs Point, Pandey said, “Tatopani is a key and controversial entry point.’’ Stating that big importers evaded taxes, he said the government could tackle peddlers at the customs point. He also said the appropriation bill would be passed in a few days. Keshav Bahadur Rayamajhi, general secretary, Nepal Trans Himalayan Trade Association and Mahendra Dahal of the Revenue Investigation Department, also spoke on the occasion.
Hooch claims 3 lives
PATHALAIYA: Three persons, including two Indian nationals, who had come to the Gadhimai fair, died after consuming poisoned alcohol on Friday. District Police Office in Bara, said Lallu Shah Mahato and Hari Mahato of Motihari, India and Chhote Lal Shah of Bariyarpur-2 were among the deceased. DSP J.N. Shrestha said the trio had died of drinking poisoned alcohol. Meanwhile, the police have raided the shop of Nemi Lal Shah and arrested Dhumali Shah, a worker in the shop. Gadhi Mai Temple is an alcohol-free zone but selling of alcohol is rampant during the fair.
