KATHMANDU: Nepal marked sixth National Coffee Day with a theme ‘Promote Organic Coffee, Increase Self-employment Conserving Ecology’ today with various programmes.
Addressing a programme organised by Tea and Coffee Development Board here today on the occasion, Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives Mrigendra Kumar Singh Yadav stressed more investment in agriculture. “We have to give special priority to the agricultural sector,” he said, adding that the development of the sector was not picking up due to lack of sufficient investments.
“Economy could not be developed without strong agricultural growth,” Yadav added. “The government should stress on the need for developing the hybrid seeds, giving technical support necessary to increase the production of agricultural sector.” He also suggested the coffee farmers to cooperate with the Board for the development of coffee farming.
Executive Director of the Board Binaya Kumar Mishra said that the government bodies should pay special attention for the development of coffee farming.
Chairman of Federation of Nepal Coffee Entrepreneurs Shyam Prasad Bhandari stressed on commercial coffee farming.
