BIRATNAGAR: Nepali Congress (NC) president Sushil Koirala on Thursday claimed that with his party opting to stay out, the Jhalanath Khanal-led government would never be able to garner a two-thirds majority.
Speaking at a press meet organised by Nepal Press Union, Morang, this morning, Koirala accused UCPN-Maoist and CPN-UML of trying to impose an autocratic constitution on the country.
The NC president said Maoists are using PM Khanal, also the chairman of UML, to meet their own interests.
He also reiterated that the NC would not join the government unless the seven-point agreement, reached between PM Khanal and Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, is scrapped. . “The pact made in closed room is a deception to Nepali politics,” he added.
Koirala further made it clear that his party would not hold any talks with UML and Maoists, adding that the NC would not hesitate to sacrifice for the sake of democracy, peace and constitution.
