While the establishment has put aside 20 candidates for Nepal Students’ Union and 6 each for Nepal Women Association and Nepal Tarun Dal, said our reporter Prakash Acharya.
The dissenting Deuba-led faction of the Nepali Congress had been boycotting the Central Committee meeting for the last eight months due to the row over the number candidates to be inducted in the above mentioned NC-affiliated organisations.
It is expected that NC President Sushil Koirala will announce the names submitted by leader Nidhi and senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba will attend the Central Committee of the Nepali Congress afterwards.
Meanwhile, the supporters of Chitwan district President Bikash Koirala are demonstrating against the party’s Central Committee decision that had sought clarification from Koirala. The irate cadres are also chanting slogans against NC leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula under whose coordination a five-member probe committee had been formed to investigate into the murder of Shiva Poudel inside the Chitwan District Prison.
The NC meeting held on June 12 had decided to seek clarification from Koirala based on the report submitted by the probe committee. According to the report the Chitwan district president Koirala showed indifference towards the disputes inside the prison that led to the murder of jailbird Paudel. Shiva Poudel was the then president of Nepal Tarun Dal, Chitwan chapter.
