KATHMANDU: Expressing the party’s commitment to the promulgation of a democratic, federal and republican constitution by May 27, a joint meeting of Nepali Congress Central Working Committee and Parliamentary Party on Tuesday entrusted the party leadership with authority to take up all possible measures and make appropriate decisions to form a NC-led national consensus government before the May 27 deadline.
The meeting, chaired by party President Sushil Koirala and held at one of the halls in the Constituent Assembly building this afternoon before the CA meeting, decided to put all efforts for the timely promulgation of constitution.
In a statement issued after the meeting, the NC said that the formation of new government in the party’s leadership was for ensuring the new constitution.
Leaders including PP leader and Vice President Ram Chandra Paudel, General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula, Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat, Narahari Acharya, Bal Krishna Khand, Deep Kumar Upadhyaya, Kamala Pant and Gagan Thapa among others aired their views in the meeting.
Also, the meeting condemned yesterday’s fatal bombing in Janakpur, dubbing the incident as an inhumane plot to disrupt the peace and create instability.
