Word of caution
KATHMANDU: Western diplomatic missions and their aid agencies in Nepal have cautioned their staff not to make ‘unnecessary’ field visits before May 27. UK’s DFID, American USAID, German GTZ and Swiss SDC have issued circulars to their staff to show prudence in their movements and outings, especially when bandhs are called, a diplomatic source confirmed. They have also been asked not to move around in vehicles during the bandh. Similarly, the embassies of these countries also have cautioned their nationals in Nepal not to make unnecessary trips outside the Kathmandu Valley during the bandh. Chief of Protocol and Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Ministry, Niranjan Man Singh Basnayat, however, denied any knowledge of such circulars.
