DHANGADHI: NASA International College of Kathmandu cruised past Aishwarya Multiple Campus of Kailali to enter the semi-finals of the Hotel Devotee SPA Cup Inter-college Cricket Tournament here today.
Aishwarya made a below-par 112-8 after electing to bat first. NASA, in reply, reached 113-4 with 10 balls to spare riding on 40 runs from Mukesh Singh. Mukesh’s 43-ball innings included four hits to the fence and one six. Rahul Singh was the next best contributor for NASA with 18 runs.
Abhaya Poudel (15), Subash Pradhan (12, Mohammad Saijd (11 not out) and Prabin Joshi (eight not out) also chipped in valuable runs for the Kathmandu-based college. Basudev Giri took two wickets for the losing side, while Rabi Rokaya had one scalp.
Earlier, man-of-the-match Suresh Guragain picked up three wickets in his miserly four-over spell to halt Aishwarya proceedings. Suresh returned with the figures of 3-6 that included one maiden. Dinesh Thagunna was the only Aishwarya batsman to impress in his 32-ball 29 that included two sixes and as many boundaries.
Rubi made 19, Basudev scored 17 and opener Dharam Khadka (14) was the remaining batsman to make runs in double figures. Lal Bahadur Adhikari also took two wickets for NASA with Rahul Singh and Prabin Joshi also getting one victim each.
In the semi-finals on Monday, Pentagon College of Kathmandu are up against hosts Sudur Paschimanchal Academy of Kailali and NASA will meet Mahendra Namuna Multiple Campus of Dadeldhura.
