KATHMANDU: National flag carrier, Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has marked its 54th anniversary on Sunday.
Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) was formed on 1 July of 1958 through enactment of Nepal Airlines Corporation Act 2019 with an objective to transport men or materials from one place to another.
28-seater Douglas DC-3 Dakota was NAC‘s first aircraft.
Then 12-seater Chinese Fong Shu Harvester AN-2 joined the fleet in 1963. And then NAC launched Pilatus Porter PC-6, Fokker Friendship F-27, Hawker Siddley HS-748 Avro, Twin Otter DHC-6, Boeing 727, Boeing 757.
In the beginning, NAC’s services were confined to Simara, Pokhara, Biratnagar and Indian cities like Patna, Calcutta and Delhi.
But today , NAC operates at six international destinations namely Delhi in India, Bangkok, Hong Kong, and Kuala Lumpur in South East /Far East Asia and Dubai and Doha in Middle East.
In domestic operations, it connects more than 25 destinations inside Nepal.
