Myagdi exports Gundruk to UK



MYAGDI: Local residents of Bima of Myagdi district began to produce Gundruk in the commercial way as the demand for the vegetable was high even from foreign countries.

The local farmers started producing Gundruk as they get demand for it from the hotels in UK and European countries as well as Pokhara, and Kathmandu of late, said local youth Ratna Singh Garbuja.

Local Bima Agricultural Cooperative Organisation purchases the local Gundruk from the villagers and manages the market for it.

Garbuja said the cooperatives received Rs. 36,000 profit selling Gundruk saying many farmers in the village has cultivated radish to make Gundruk this year that the organization will gain more benefit. Similarly, the farmers will have easy access to their production. The farmers get Rs 200 for a kilogram Gundruk in the village.

The youth associated to the cooperatives have cultivated radish and lettuce in the commercial way to make gundruk.
