KATHMANDU: A morning procession was organised to mark the Social Service Day Saturday morning.
The procession organised by the Social Welfare Council, which began from Bhrikutimandap, went through Putali Sadak, Kamaladi, Durbar Marg and converged at the Council premises at Lainchaur.
Participating in the procession was Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare, Badri Prasad Neupaney.
Likewise, others participating were scouts, civil society, and high level government officials, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and NGO representatives.
Asoj 6 is celebrated as the Social Service Day each year as per Nepali calendar.
The day is celebrated since 2034 BS to mark the founding of the Social Welfare Council.
The Council was established with the objective that service is religion, let's serve with heart and mind. The council has some 35,837 home organisations and 837 international NGOs affiliated to it.
The amount committed in the social sector from these organisations stands at Rs. 7.778 billion annually, the Council said.
