KATHMANDU: Police said that they have rounded up two persons for their alleged involvement in forging documents to sell land of a person who was abroad.

According to CIB, Suman Maharjan (39) of Shanischare, Jhapa and Kanchha Thapa (52) of Budhanilakantha used counterfeit citizenship and landownership to sell Rishab Dhital's two-ropani-and-eight-aana land in Budhanilakantha to Rajan Shrestha on Rs 15.5 million.

The victim is a permanent resident of Anandaban, Rupandehi. The sold land was registered at the Land Revenue Office, Chabahil as plot number 408.

One of the fraudsters had succeeded in acquiring citizenship in Dhital's name and then they forged other documents also to sell off the land as an impostor.

A police team deployed from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) had nabbed them from Gangabu and Budhanilakantha on Wednesday.

Police are looking into the case.
