BIRATNAGAR: Chairman of the Federation of Nepali Journalists Shiva Gaunle today said that the country’s media is bearing the brunt as various groups are agitated demanding their rights.
Speaking at a programme organised after the foundation of the Morang Editors Association building was laid, Gaunle said that the media has become a soft
target for agitators across
the country, including some political parties.
“Mediapersons need to understand this and work patiently, said the Federation of Nepali Journalists chief.
“It is a matter of grief that mediapersons have been targeted in agitations in
far-west, while doing their duty.”
He said that the government should take attacks
on media seriously. However, he said the government has been trying its best to put curbs on the rights of mediapersons.
“The media should move ahead along with the times and the society should also be patient towards the press,” Gaunle held.
