PYUTHAN: A maternity building of the District Hospital, Bijuwar, has become dilapidated even before coming into operation.
The building could not come into operation though four years have passed after the completion of the building.
The building, constructed through contract from the Building Division Office, is in limbo after the contactor left without completing the remaining works.
The District Hospital said that the hospital has been facing problems of maternity service daily after the constructed maternity building was not handed over to the hospital on time. The building was constructed at a cost of around Rs. 9.8 million.
Medical Superintendent Dr. Umashankar Chaudhary said that sometimes they are compelled to provide maternity services by keeping them outside the hospital due to lack of a building.
He said that they have also informed the Chief District Officer about the non-completion of the maternity hospital building.
The contractor has already received payment of the final bill from the Building Division Office before completing the works.
The contractor has not done the remaining work saying construction work was already completed after the Office provided payment of final bill in the fiscal year 2066/ 67 BS.
