KATHMANDU: A high level UCPN-Maoist meeting ended with a decision to seek consensus at its chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal's residence in Naya Bazaar, Kathmandu on Thursday morning. The meeting was held after Dahal met Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala in Singapore on Tuesday.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Maoist vice chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha 'Prakash' said that his party will be flexible to resolve the political impasse. But he informed that they had not given up their demands for civilian supremacy and correcting the 'unconstitutional' move of President Dr Ram Baran Yadav to reinstate the then Army Chief Rookmangud Katawal. He was hopeful that the political deadlock would end soon.
Sources claimed that Dahal informed his party leaders about his 'secret' agreement with Koirala. The Maoists have already given the government an ultimatum of November 20 to address their demands.
