Maoist DAO gherao enters day 2

KATHMANDU: UCPN-Maoist gherao programme in the district administration offices throughout the country continued on Thursday.

They have been staging sit in protests in front of the main gates of the DAO offices and disrupting the daily schedule of the offices. They have also been organising cultural programmes.

Thousands of Maoist cadres have been participating in the sit in protests in front of the district administration offices under Kathmandu Valley –Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur due to which transportation has been badly affected in those areas.

However, Home administration has deployed at least 5,000 Armed Police and Nepal Police personnel in Kathmandu as a precaution to prevent violence during the protest period.

According to a source the gherao programme is scheduled during office hours as on Wednesday.

Earlier Maoists had stopped the daily duties of the offices by staging sit in protests in front of the gates of the offices on Monday.
