HETAUDA,: The cases of divorce between husbands and wives have been increasing in Hetauda Municipality area and various VDCS of Makwanpur district with increasing misunderstanding between them.
In 2068-69 BS, some 93 pairs got divorced, along with the cases of 88 pairs registered in the same year, said the District Court.
Some 31 cases had come down to the fiscal year from the previous year. Husbands from various VDCs and municipality go to gulf countries for jobs and of them, 70 percent of the wives have filed petitions for divorce at the District Court, said court's Record Keeping Officer Koshaleswor Gyawali.
The wives spend the amount sent by their husbands from gulf and other countries by making contact with other men and even spend for buying land in the name of the persons, said one victimized by wife, Ram Prasad Sharma of Hetauda Municality – 8.
Houses and land, property and amount were returned to the husbands from the married wives who got divorced, said Court's Justice Tek Narayan Kunwar.
Twenty five percent of the women who got divorce said they had got mental torture, sexual violence and beating after consumption of alcohol, said the District Court.
