KATHMANDU: SG Global — the sole authorised distributor of Mahindra 2 Wheelers in the country — for the first time has launched 110cc bikes — Pantero and Centuro — in the domestic market.
Both the motorcycles are fitted with a Micro Chip Ignited 5-Curve engine, produced at M&M’s plant near Indore, India, it said.
The Pantero’s engine generates a peak power of around eight bhp. With this power output, the company claims that Pantero will deliver an impressive mileage of 79.5 kmpl, certified by the Automotive Research Association of India.
It has ground clearance of 165mm and seat length of 774mm.
The bike has bright white coloured twin pilot lamps in its headlight which looks really cool at night. Its black coloured visor also gets new lines on it while its front cowl gets new graphics.
The clear lens indicators are placed on both sides of its headlight. The rear view mirrors certainly look cheap and are placed high on its handle bar. It follows the
all black theme with black finished alloy wheels, engine, grab rail and fender.
The design of the silencer, fuel tank and side panel is quite simple but to make it look fresh, Mahindra has played with some stickers. The bike looks best when seen from the back as it has a full-size LED tail light which complements the styling of its rear fender, grab rail and tyre.
Similarly, the Centuro is an entry level bike.
It has a simple and full size front cowl and tinted visor. The bike’s headlights come with pilot lamps, it said, adding that it has black coloured engine and muffler.
It features a new instrument console which is completely different than the one used in Pantero.
It has a combined analogue digital instrument console with all essential LED indicators in it.
The bike features a circular dial which partly displays its digital speedometer and rest of the dial houses an analogue tachometer. There are two other LCDs also which come with service reminder and distance to empty feature. The bike has digital odometer, 2-trip meter and fuel gauge. This instrument console comes with a unique white back light which looks best at night. Besides this, the bike has a cool key remote with a LED which helps you find the ignition switch even in the dark. The bike has a mono cylinder and comes with 106cc engine capacity that produces a peak power of 8.5 bhp at 7500 rpm. The air-cooled engine generates a maximum torque output of 8.5 nm which is accessible at 5500 rpm.
It has a four speed gearbox with all gears up-shift pattern. The fuel efficiency of Centuro ranges from 62-65 km/ltr in city conditions while you can expect this bike to return a mileage of around 68-70 km/ltr on long runs, the company claimed.
It is the first bike to offer safety features like anti-theft system with an inbuilt engine immobiliser and guide lamps. Its wheels are equipped with drum brakes of 130mm. It has a high ground clearance of 173mm and a wheelbase of 1265mm which add to its stability.
