MANTHALI: The area in-charge of UCPN-Maoist, Ram Hari Kandel, of Ramechhap-8 took his own life in a fit of rage after his girlfriend allegedly rejected his marriage proposal.


Kandel, who hails from Tokarpur-1, had proposed Muna Khadgi for marriage. When Khadgi told Kandel that she was not ready for marriage, the love-struck Maoist activist went to Ramitedanda, consumed poison and killed self.


He had first proposed her on September 11. Despite Muna’s rejection to his proposal, Kandel repeatedly tried to convince Khadgi of his love, but to no avail. Fed up with repeated failures, he had reportedly warned the girl that he would commit suicide.


The heartbroken youth on the same day left for the jungle and killed self. His body was found Wednesday morning. They were said to have been in love since two years.
