Locals seek action against VDC secy

DIKTEL: Locals of Khotang, Chyasmitar VDC, have today demanded action against the Village Development Committee secretary Chandra Prasad Acharya for remaining continuously absent from his office.

According to infuriated locals, their work has been affected due to VDC secretary’s absence. A team representing locals had come to the District Development Committee to complain that the budget of the present fiscal year has not been disbursed till now when fiscal year is about to be completed.

UML regional chairperson Surendra Kumar Rai said people are facing problems for getting recommendation letter for citizenship, death certificate, passport and birth certificate. Similarly, elders and widows have not got their social security allowances due to secretary’s absence.

According to locals, they had to search for secretary Acharya in the headquarters for days together to get approve a minor work. Local Chanka Bahadur Rai said that Acharya was last seen in the village during the village council which was held five months ago and once two months ago, since then he has not visited the village.

Locals have urged local politicians, District Administration Office and Federation of Nepali Journalists to take the matter at an appropriate level to address the problem.
