Libya : A New York-based human rights group says evidence indicates that Libyan regime troops killed at least 17 detainees and arbitrarily executed dozens of civilians as rebels moved into Tripoli.

Sarah Leah Witson of Human Rights Watch says there are signs that "Gadhafi government forces went on a spate of arbitrary killing as Tripoli was falling."

Rebels moved into the Libyan capial a week ago. After fighting regime loyalists holed up in Gadhafi strongholds, they say they largely pushed them to the outskirts of the capital over the weekend.

Reporters touring Tripoli have found clusters of corpses in several areas of Tripoli, including a roundabout near Gadhafi's Bab al-Aziziya compound and at a hospital in the Abu Salim neighborhood.
