KATHMANDU: Water level in the Koshi River is recorded highest for the year today morning with water flow measured at 138,500 cusecs.

According to the Koshi Project Control Department located at Koshi Barrage, the water flow was measured after 10 am today.

The red flag has been hoisted on the Koshi barrage following incessant rainfall in the eastern hills, indicating that the water level is rising day by day.

A red flag is raised when the water flow crosses 100,000 cusecs.

However, red light is switched on only with water level crossing 150,000 cusecs mark.

As the water level rises, it increases the risk of inundation.
