SALYAN: Jung Bahadur Khatri of Kochhatte at Rampur VDC in Salyan hacked Jit Bahadur Gharti of the same place to death on Tuesday night over a financial dispute. Following the killing, Khatri had surrendered to the police. Dead body has been sent to Dang for autopsy.

Trader kidnapped

BARA: An unidentified armed gang kidnapped a local trader from Laxmipur Kotwali VDC-based Dhawatol on Tuesday night. According to the Simraunagadh Area Police Office, trader Shiwagya Thakur (32) was kidnapped by a gang of eight-nine persons while he was asleep in his store. Police informed that the search for the abductee was on.

Three taken ill

DAMAK: Maya Rai, Kamala Darji and Ujjwal Darji of Damak were taken ill after eating poisonous mushroom on Wednesday. Damak Police informed they are in critical condition. They have been rushed to Dharan for treatment. —HNS

Diarrhoea kills

BAJURA: Two-year-old Ashish Khati, son of Uddhav Khati, died of diarrhoea on Tuesday evening. He died while receiving treatment at Tante Health Post.

‘Split won’t hurt’

SOLUKHUMBU: UCPN-Maoist politburo member Gopal Kiranti on Wednesday said that the newly formed Maoist party would have no bearing on the UCPN-M. Speaking at a programme in Salleri, Kiranti said Mohan Baidhya’s party status would be no more than that of the CP Mainali-led CPN-Marxist Leninist party.

Huts razed

TAULIHAWA: Police and forest guards torched two dozen huts built illegally on forest land in Hariharpur, Kapilvastu on Wednesday. District Forest Officer Krishna Prasad Pokharel said the huts were razed as they were built by ‘fake’ squatters. According to the forest office, about 11,000 hectares of forest land has been encroached in the area.

Four hurt in accident

JAJARKOT: Four persons were injured, one seriously, after a tractor turned turtle near Kotkhola, Khalanga on Wednesday. Of the injured, three are from Jajarkot while one is from Surkhet. All the injured are receiving treatment at the district hospital.
