Khanal was proposed as PM

MYAGDI: Jhala Nath Khanal was the candidate of the UCPN-Maoist to replace Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal in a proposed bid to end the political standstill in the country. Khanal addressing a programme in Myagdi on Tuesday made this revelation. He claimed that it was not once but time and again that he was requested to become the PM by the UCPN-Maoist. He said that it would be a cowardly act to refuse the PM’s post and the responsibility if the time and situation demanded it. Khanal also said that the recent promotion of Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala to the Deputy Prime Minister had nothing to do with the tenure of the present government.
