Journalists set up pro-journalist cooperative

PANITYANKI: In a bid to extend financial assistance and enhance capacity of the fellow journalists, the active journalists here have set up a cooperative.

Having active journalists as its members, the Sancharkarmi Sanchar Cooperative has been established with the chairmanship of senior journalist, Mohan Bhandari.

The members should make monthly saving in the Cooperative. Currently, there are 42 founding members in the cooperative.

Chairman Bhandari said the cooperative was set up after the journalists were attracted towards this, and those making Rs 5,000 contribution lump sum would be made founding member.

The Cooperative has been registered in the District Cooperative Division Office, Morang. In addition to providing loans, the Cooperative would contribute to boosting up the capacity of journalists.

With this initiative, it is believed that the financial condition of the working journalists would be enhanced to some extent.
