KANCHANPUR: At least 24 demonstrators were injured in a clash at Jhalari bazaar in Kanchanpur district that occurred last night between demonstrators of two groups, demanding undivided far west region and Tharuhat region.
The injured are undergoing treatment at local clinics. Police said cadres of the Tharuhat vandalised shops at Jhalari bazaar and vandalised three parked motorcycles and window panes of more than six houses.
Integrated Nepal Undivided Far-West Struggle Committee has demanded action against the group that vandalised the shops and also against the Superintendent of Police, Dilip Kumar Chaudhary, for taking no action on the irate gangs despite their vandalism of a huge amount of property.
Tension ran high at Jhalari area after the two sides hit the streets today.
