KATHMANDU: The Janajati and Madhesi leaders, including Vice Chairman of the party Ashok Rai, did not take part in the Central Committee meeting of CPN-UML on Sunday. The meeting was called in a bid to resolve the rift inside the party over state-restructuring.

UML Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal floated a political report in the wake of dissolution of the Constituent Assembly.

The meeting will continue tomorrow also.

The CC meeting is expected to nominate the members of the high-level commission proposed during Saturday’s Politburo meeting to resolve all the intra-party disputes afflicting the party over the issue of state-restructuring.

The party took decision to form a separate commission on state restructuring after the UML´s Vice-Chairman Ashok Rai, politburo members Prithivi Subba Gurung, Bijay Subba, Ram Chandra Jha and Mangal Siddhi Manadhar warned to set-up a separate political group if the party leadership doesn’t take the concerns of the janajatis positively.
