KATHMANDU: Iva Raut of Bijeshwori Gyan Mandir claimed the U-14 school girls’ singles gold medal of the third Krishna Dhwoj Memorial Invitational Valleywide Table Tennis Tournament defeating Soni Vaila of Mt Valley 11-8, 8-11, 11-6, 11-9 here on Tuesday. Sonu Thapa Magar of Neologian eased to an 11-9, 11-8, 11-6 victory over Renuka Rana Magar of Bijeshwori in the girls’ U-16 final. Likewise, Dikshya Tamang of Adarsha Vidhya Mandir won the U-10 girls’ singles gold defeating fellow schoolmate Lasta Maharjan 11-1, 11-7, 11-8, while Karina Thapa Magar of Pushpa Sadan rallied for a 9-11, 11-4, 11-7, 11-8 win over teammate Aska Shrestha to win U-12 .
Rupy’s, Saipal champs
KATHMANDU: Rupy’s International and Saipal Academy claimed the second Ace ‘A’ Level Inter-college Basketball Championships here on Tuesday. Chhimi Gyalsen scored 19 points as Rupy’s defeated hosts Ace Institute of Management 39-35 in Over Time to lift the boys’ section title. The match was pushed to four-minute of OT after both the teams were tied at 32-32 in regulation. In the girls’ final, Saipal cruised to a 25-12 win over Rupy’s with Ritu Majhi and Sabita Luitel netting eight points each. Biplab Malla of Rupy’s and Maya Rai of Saipal were adjudged the MVP.
