KATHMANDU: Nepal has defeated Papua New Guinea (PNG) by six wickets in the ICC U-19 tournament held at the Peter Burge Oval in Brisbane in Australia on Thursday.
With the win against PNG, Nepal has secured 13th place in ICC-19 World Cup.
Rahul BK alone grabbed six wickets, while Prithu Baskota and Pradeep Airee took two wickets and one wicket respectively to secure victory for their team.
Papua New Guinea that elected to bat first scored only 89 runs in 33.1 overs, losing all wickets.
At the cost of only four wickets, Nepal easily met the target in 18.1 overs. Naresh Bahadur Budayair scored 27 runs, the higest of Nepali innings, while Sagar Pun scored 20 runs, Raju Palami Magar 18 runs and Airee scored 18 runs.
This is the second win for Nepal as it had defeated Namibia on Tuesday after four consecutive losses earlier.
