KATHMANDU: UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, aka, Prachanda has consoled President Dr Ram Baran Yadav by referring that he would intensify talks among political troubleshooters to resolve the budget fiasco.
President is under trouble these days: whether to allow government to bring budget through ordinance or to wait for political consensus as demanded by oppositions.
Dahal who called on President Dr Ram Baran Yadav on Sunday morning to have a discussion over the government’s preparations to bring the fiscal budget, pledged the head of the government that the government will not bring budget till political consensus is forged.
“President advised for political consensus to bring budget, and I vowed to intensify political consultations to bring the timely budget through political consensus,” said Dahal emerging from Sheetal Niwas, the office of President in Maharajgunj.
The former Prime Minister Dahal went to meet President at a time when the opposition parties, including the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and Mohan Baidhya-led CPN-Maoist, have been opposing the government’s plan to bring a full-fledged budget without consensus. Oppositions have already urged President not to approve ordinance for a full-fledged budget.
Foreseeing the financial catastrophe in the country (which is already facing the constitutional and political crisis in the wake of the demise of the Constituent Assembly on May 27) President Yadav suggested Dahal, who is seen as a backbone to the incumbent government, to tread on constitutional path while unveiling the fiscal budget.
Last week also President Yadav had consulted with the UCPN-Maoist chair over budget fuss.
