BHAKTAPUR:Him Kohli of Kailali and Gopal Basnet of Jhapa advanced to the men’s 51kg pre-quarterfinals of the U-17 National Youth Boxing Championships at Bhaktapur Sahid Smriti Khel Maidan today.
In the men’s 51kg, Kohli ousted Rajan Adhikari of Kapilvastu in the first bout and defeated Baburam Hemrum of Jhapa in the second. Gopal also registered victory over Srijan Rimal of Hetauda Boxing Club and Sushil Yak of Bhaktapur. Niranjan Kumar Shrestha of Makwanpur, Bikram Pariyar of Naxal, Jeetman Budha of Salyan, Bikesh Duwal of Bhaktapur, Rahul Pradhan of Ilam and Raj Kumar Gupta of Parsa also entered the round of 16 in the same weight category.
Rupesh Regmi and Prakash Thokar of Makwanpur, Sanjay Prajapati and Laxmi Prasad Duwal of Bhaktapur, Krishna Pratap Sen of Kapilvastu, Rajan Shrestha of Jumla, Prakash Lamichhane of Jhapa and Sunil Rai of Ilam also qualified for the pre-quarterfinals in the men’s 48kg bout.
Likewise, Samal Manandhar of Hetauda, Narendra Deshar of Nepal Youth Boxing Club, Dhirendra Chand of Kanchanpur, Kailash Gupta of Chitwan, Umesh Budhathoki of Tikathali and Tilak Khele of Dang Boxing Club secured their second round berths in men’s 54kg category.
Jitendra Rawal of Jumla, Maheshwor Raut of Lalitpur, Naveen Singh of Kailali and
Jayaram Khakhuja of Bhaktapur entered men’s 57kg second round. Shiva Narayan Lohola
of Bhaktapur, Umesh Rijal
of Tikathali and Subhash
Chaulagain of Hetauda
reached the second round of the men’s 60kg bout.
