Highways disrupted, man missing

MUSIKOT: A landslide disrupted the Musikot-Salyan section of Rapti highway on Wednesday due to incessant rainfall since Monday. Likewise, the Tulsipur-Salyan road section has been obstructed due to another landslide also caused by heavy rains for the last two days.

Top Bahadur Gautam, 29, a resident of Shova VDC-5, Rukum has been reported missing in the Sano Bheri river on Wednesday. According to the police, a search is underway.

Air and road traffic has been disrupted due to the inclement weather. As a result, many passengers have been stranded.

Similarly, at least 100 families of Kothiyaghat, Guptipur, Bajpur, Tihuni and other areas have been evacuated to safe places after the water level of Karnali and Geruwa Rivers rose due to continuous rains. The Area Police Office of Khairi Chandanpur in Bardiya has also been displaced due the floods.

According to SP Ganesh KC of Bardia District Office, the victims have been given shelter in the schools, forest range posts and the houses of their relatives with the help of police and the locals. Likewise, hundreds of passengers have been stranded after the flood in Oraikhola damaged the Bhurigaun- Chisapani road section along the East-West highway. According to another report, at least 150,000 people of the Rajapur area were affected by the flooding of Karnali River. The transportation of the area with the other parts of the district has been disrupted.
