Gyanendra calls leaders 'short-sighted'

Former king Gyanendra Shah addressing a religious programme after inaugurating the Mahayogi Gorakshyanath temple in Harapur VDC, Nawalparasi, on Tuesday.

PARASI: King Gyanendra Shah today criticised the political leaders for their ‘short-sightedness’ to deal with the crisis and further urged the people to be wary of every single decision to be taken by them.

Inaugurating the newly-built Mahayogi Guru Gorakhyanath Temple in Harapur VDC, Nawalparasi today, Shah said monarchy is the only regime that could prove as the firm foundation for the nation. During his two-and-half minutes religious speech, he argued that a regime without a strong base is bound to fall apart.

“All of us have to be alert about myopic decisions,” he said. “The nation which was formed with the grace of Gorakhnath Baba should run under a certain and organised system,” he added.

Further, he said, “The traditional and cultural values, heritage of the country need to be protected to preserve our national identity.”

After the temple inauguration, Shah returned to the Bhairahawa-based Nirban Hotel in the afternoon where he had to meet his supporters. He is due to fly to Capital on Wednesday.
