KATHMANDU: Election Commission (EC) has expressed its dissatisfaction against government’s sluggishness in making preparations to be able to hold the election of new Constituent Assembly on time.

EC lodged its discontents to Prime Minster Dr Baburam Bhattarai who was at EC in Kantipath on Monday to discuss some technical issues attached to hold the election of new Constitute Assembly.

“Government is acting as irresponsible to avoid the present constitutional crisis and political hurdles, which actually act as hurdles to conduct the November poll,” said Acting Chief Election Commissioner Nilkanth Uprety.

According to EC, the election could be conducted on the scheduled time, if the government were to provide the Commission the amended legal provision four months ahead of the exact poll date.

EC has already written to the government to amend interim constitution and relevant legal provision to pave the way for the new CA.

After failing to meet the deadline to deliver the new constitution on May 27, government has announced the fresh elections for CA due on November 22.
