KATHMANDU: Nepal No 1 amateur golfer Dinesh Prajapati and No 3 Bikash Bogati on Tuesday left for Bhutan to participate in the Bhutan Amateur Open Tournament. The golfers — members of the Surya Nepal NGA Youth Golf Development Programme — will compete along with players from India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Bhutan in the event slated for December 19-22 at the Royal Thimpu Golf Club. NGA General Secretary Tashi Ghale and other officials bade farewell to the players.
Abhash to meet Abhay
LALITPUR: Abhash Malla and Abhay Gauchan entered the U-16 boys’ singles final of the 12th Jaykar Memorial Junior National Open Lawn Tennis Championships on Tuesday. Abhash defeated Nabin Magar 6-0, 6-1 and Abhay eased past Anusthan Bahadur Singh 6-0, 6-1 in the semi-finals. In the U-14 boys’ singles, Renjan Lama cruised past Arjun Dhungel 6-1, 6-0 and Bibek Shrestha routed Pasang Thing 6-0, 6-1 to reach the last four. Ira Raut, Cathy Mathema, Ani Mathema and Khushi Pandey entered the U-12 girls’ singles last four.
Gairigaun claim title
KATHMANDU: Gairigaun Cricket Club defeated Ganaraj Cricket Club by 16 runs to claim the title of the Hyolmo Cup Twenty20 Cricket Tournament on Tuesday. Batting first, Gairigaun made 134-8 and restricted Ganaraj to 118-8. Pramod Regmi of Gairigaun was named the man-of-the-series for his 192 runs, while Kiran Budhathoki of the same club was adjudged the best batsman. Arjun Adhikari (wicketkeeper) of Himalaya Cricket Academy, Ram Pradhan (bowler) of Gairigaun and Anish Alam (fielder) of Gairigaun were the other best individuals.
