LALITPUR: Arjun Neupane of Chauthe, which lies close to Sisdole landfill site in Nuwakot, called up Dr Sumitra Amatya, General Manager (GM), Solid Waste Management and Resource Mobilisation Centre under Ministry of Local Development, at 9:00 pm yesterday evening and abused her verbally.
“I’ve been offended. He tortured me psychologically,” said Amatya.
Neupane is said to have scolded her and threatened to fulfill his demands.
“It was embarrassing,” said Amatya. “This is not how someone gets their demands fulfilled. They must come to the office and talk,” she regretted.
Dipendra Bahadur Oli, legal officer, SWMRMC, said he was threatened many times as well. “The locals have misbehaved with me several times and also threatened to assault me physically,” he added.
Declining to have used insulting words against her, Neupane admitted that it was wrong to phone during night.
“I asked her to be responsible and fulfill the agreed on demands,” he said. “The government has not allocated budget for development works in the landfill site area.”
Advocate Meera Dhungana said the incident indicated the state of law and order in the country.
