KATHMANDU: The Central Investigation Bureau of the Nepal Police on Sunday arrested Ratan Lal Gurung (61), who had been on the run after the Kathmandu District Court sentenced him to five years in jail and fined Rs 8.9 lakh last year on fraud charges. Gurung, who hails from Lamjung, had defrauded several people of millions of rupees by promising astronomical interests on behalf of Samakhusi-based Peace Nepal Cooperatives.

KATHMANDU: Police on Sunday arrested Hari Magar (30), Suk Bahadur Magar (32) and Ram Krishna Subedi (36) with 16 kg cannabis in Naagdhunga. The contraband was found inside a microbus (Ba 2 Kha 4122) during a security check. They have been charged under the Narcotic Drug (Control and Punishment) Act.
