Fuel supply resumes

KATHMANDU: Fuel supply which had been disrupted across the nation since Sunday resumed on Monday morning.

Traders made the decision to call off their protest following a meeting held at Chitwan on Sunday. An all round meeting is also being held at Dhading today.

According to Siddhi Lal Shrestha, acting chairman of Petroleum Transport Federation the supply of fuel will resume from Monday.

Hira Lal Shrestha, chairman of Narayani Transport Association and a Dhading political party were present in the meeting.

Earlier Narayani Transportation Association, Nepal Petroleum Federation and the Maoist affiliated Tanker Workers Association had made a joint decision to halt the fuel transportation.

A month earlier relatives of a victim killed in an accident in Chitwan detained fuel tankers and misbehaved with the occupants.

The four associations had issued a press release declaring that they would discontinue fuel supply until the government gave them an assurance of adequate security.
