KATHMANDU: As the President’s deadline to parties to name a consensus PM is inching closer, Nepali Congress (NC) has intensified parleys to form a NC-led national unity government.
Parties have time till Thursday 4pm, as appealed by President Dr Baburam Bhattarai.
In this regards, NC President Sushil Koirala on Tuesday morning held discussions with American Ambassador to Nepal Peter W. Bodde and Deputy Prime Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar.
During the meet, Ambassador suggested Koirala, as reported to focus on forging consensus among political parties.
“I will not have any objection if Koirala will led national unity government”, said Gachhadar while talking to the media emerging from the meet.
Earlier, on Monday, NC President had held a meet with Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party (TMLP) Chief Mahanta Thakur to seek assistance for the NC-led national unity government.
According to media reports, NC is likely to name its President Sushil Koirala as the PM candidate for the national unity government.
CPN-UML- one of the opposition parties seeking PM's ouster had already asked NC to name its prime ministerial candidate at the earliest.
