JOGBUDHA: At least twelve people have been killed due to a landslide at Mastamandu VDC 1, Garkhagaon, Dadeldura at 3 am on Tuesday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Dambar Bahadur Bhool 40, his wife Mata Devi 35, their daughter Suna Kumari 7, son Thagu 4 and niece Hema 11 from the same family and Bijaya Bhool 36, his wife Padhma 34, mother Lali Devi 60, sons Ramesh 14, Maha Dev 8, Binod 6 and daughter Basanti, 6 months of another family. Two others, Pune Bhool 14 and Bishnu Bhool 16, sons of Dambar were rescued.
According to Tulsi Aryal, Inspector of District Police office, Dadeldhura, Dasarath Highway and Shree Highway among others have been disrupted due to the flood which has affected transportation severely.
The incessant rain has also been affecting life in Kailali and Kanchanpur. Most of the areas have been submerged and grains have been swept away.
According to District Agriculture Development Office, Kanchanpur the rain has swept away 10 percent of planted grains. They added that an electric pole was also swept away and electricity has been affected due to flood.
The transportation on Banbasa Bridge between India and Nepal is also affected due to overflowing water in the river.
According to technicians of hydrology centre, the flow of water in Mahakali river has increased up to 2, 40,000 qusec.
Likewise one person was killed due to a landslide in Tanahu, while six year old Purna Bahadur Bista, son of Tilak Bahadur Bista was killed in a landslide in Silugudhi Municipality. 14 houses were also destroyed in Silugudhi.
