DAILEKH: The Dailekh district court on Friday remanded the five accused of the 2004 murder of journalist Dekendra Thapa in custody to let the police conduct further investigation into the case.
After today's hearing in the nine-year-old murder case, district judge Ram Krishna Bhatta issued the order to detain defendants Lakshiram Gharti Magar, Nirak Bahadur Gharti Magar, Bir Bahadur KC, Harilal Pun Magar and Jaya Bahadur Shahi in judicial custody. The five were arrested in the first week of January.
The court also ordered the District Administration Office to issue search warrant against four others who are still at large.
The slain journalist's wife Laxmi Thapa had filed a case against the nine on August 28, 2008, accusing them of killing Dekendra Thapa in 2004.

Government attorney Dambar Kafle, and advocates Govinda Bandi, Dinesh Tripathi Surendra Adhikari, Basanta Gautam and Lalit Malla pleaded on behalf of the plaintiff, whereas Gopal Siwakoti, Kedar Guragain and Krishna Lal Bhattarai pleaded on behalf of the defendants.
