KATHMANDU: Faced with acute shortage of chemical fertiliser in the midst of paddy planting season, farmers turned to Hello Sarkar for a solution.

Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai’s populist grievance addresser mechanism ‘Hello Sarkar, has received complaints of chemical fertiliser shortage.

Although the Agriculture Input Company (AIC) said the problem would ease from Thursday, it added that the government should increase budget to import fertiliser.

The annual import of chemical fertiliser is only 1.5 lakh tonnes, while Nepal needs 7 tonnes.
