KATHMANDU: At a time four parties are near consensus on holding CA polls, the ruling party-led Federal Democratic Republican Alliance (FDRA) is all set to hold public awareness programmes in five major cities across the country.
A meeting of the parties aligned to FDRA held at its office in Baneshwor on Saturday morning decided to hold such programmes in five major cities – Biratnagar, Janakpur, Nepalgunj, Pokhara and Kathmandu – from October 3 until 12 to garner support in favour of constitution with federalism, a source privy to the meeting said.
Top leaders of the parties associated with the FDRA will address the programmes. After carrying out programmes in the four cities, the alliance will conclude the programme at Khulamanch in Kathmandu on October 12.
The meeting has decided to give top priority to talks and discussions among the parties to forge national consensus to end the present political uncertainty, said FDRA's spokesperson Prem Bahadur Singh.
UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, UCPN-Maoist Vice-Chairman and Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai, Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party's Chairman Mahantha Thakur, Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Republican's Chairman Raj Kishor Yadav, Sadbhavana Party's Chairman Rajendra Mahato and other leaders of the FDRA were present at the meeting.
There are as many as 22 different political parties aligned to FDRA.
