MYAGDI: The scheduled visit of former King Gyanendra Shah to Myagdi has been cancelled following opposition from different political parties.
The former king was scheduled to arrive here on a two-day visit today in connection with his western regional visit. The visit was said to be focused on performing worships at various holy shrines in the district.
It may be noted that different political parties here on Thursday announced the Myagdi banda today in protest of the former king's scheduled visit citing that publicity of the visit was held as a visit of a 'high- profile personality'.
According to Jagat Prasad Gauchan of the Visit Management Main Committee, the trip was cancelled due to adverse situation created after the protests by the political parties.
After the cancellation of the visit, the banda has been withdrawn and life started returning to normalcy. The ex-king was scheduled to arrive here by a helicopter at 10:30 am. During his stay here, he had planned to meet with his well-wishers as well.
