KATHMANDU: The Special Court (SC) today convicted former home secretary Padma Prasad Pokharel of graft and sentenced him to an 18-month jail term.
A division bench of Justices Om Prakash Mishra , Gauri Bahadur Karki, and Kedar Prasad Chalise slapped a penalty of Rs 5.85 million on him for amassing properties through unfair means while he was a public officer.
Pokharel was found guilty following an investigation after a complaint was filed by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).
In the petition filed in May, CIAA had sought Rs 1, 51, 38, 898 fine from Pokharel.
